As we head into the final week of July and into August, there are two main race meetings to look forward to this coming weekend.

British Superbikes: Oulton Park

Round Six of the British Superbike Championship sees the teams returning to the scene of the opening round from the start of May.

The return to Oulton Park comes a little earlier in the calendar than in previous seasons, essentially starting the second half of the 11 round season.

In Round One, the new Ducati Panigale V4 showed some ominous speed at the Cheshire circuit despite the teams only having taken delivery of the bikes a few weeks earlier. With five rounds of data to build on, it will be interesting to see what lap times Kyle Ryde and Scott Redding are able to achieve this time around.

The same can be said for the bimotas. Max Cook admitted in the Race Three press conference at Brands Hatch that he got a bit giddy from the qualifying pace he was able to show at Oulton and failed to capitalise on the potential in the races. Having taken three third-placed finishes at Brands Hatch, Cook should be well set to make a better fist of things this time around.

MXGP: Round 14, Flanders, Belgium

The other bike action comes in MXGP, where the teams complete a triple-header sequence after racing in Great Britain and the Czech Republic over the past two weekends.

Jeffrey Herlings has been in imperious form recently in MXGP, winning all four Grand Prixs over the past two events as well as the qualifying race this past Saturday. With Lucas Coenen having to sit those races out following an injury sustained in the Qualifying Race at Foxhills, The Bullet has jumped ahead of his Belgian rival to lead the championship by 49 points.

In MX2, Guillem Farres took a first and a second in the Czech Republic to extend his lead at the top of the standings to 33 points over Sacha Coenen.

Farres has won eight of the last ten Grands Prix on his Triumph and his form reportedly has put him in line for a move to the MXGP class in 2027. Kawasaki are the team being most closely linked to his signature following the news that 2025 Champion Romain Febvre is leaving the team at the end of this season to join Ducati.

If he is to leave Triumph, Farres will be desperate to secure a World Title with the British manufacturer this season.
